Job Description:The Facilities Planner at the SUNY College of Ag & Tech plays an integral role in shaping the campus' future capital plan by fitting together facilities data analysis, reporting, and facility programming with the campus' strategic plan framework. This position will enhance the capabilities of Facilities Management in collaborating with stakeholders, ensuring efficient space utilization, enhancing the campus environment, ensuring safe and universal access for all, and promoting sustainable facilities management practices. This position will work among a solid Facilities Management team with many years of working together.The ideal candidate for this role will:* Be an excellent team-oriented collaborator and listener;* Enjoy working back-and-forth with data and the tangible environment;* Enjoy moving between granular information and thinking about the bigger picture;* Possess the ability to think critically and understand the operating environment of higher education, including space guidelines, building codes, accessibility, and course scheduling;* Have mastery of spreadsheet skills and writing composition.Key Responsibilities:Space Utilization and Planning:* Administer the campus space database, ensuring data accuracy and reliability; perform analysis and report on campus space utilization, asset management, energy consumption, and other key metrics.* Maintain current campus floor plans, maps and space data using a variety of software systems.* Provide data and information to support the college's administration, the State University Construction Fund, and SUNY System Administration.* Conduct thorough assessments of existing facilities and associated equipment to optimize space efficiency to align with the college's strategic objectives.* Work with academic and administrative departments to understand and meet their space requirements.Project Management:* Assist in capital project scoping and prioritization* Ensure key data is captured on projects from baseline to completion, including space characteristics, energy, costs, etc.* Assist with capital projects, provide some cross-functional support, and be a project lead where applicable.Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:* Foster positive collaborations with all, in keeping with the college's values.* Facilitate communication to ensure facility plans support campus needs.* Conduct presentations and workshops to gather feedback and promote initiatives.Data Analysis:* Collect and maintain data including facility usage, occupancy, capacity, configuration, and energy consumption. Prepare analytical reports on space utilization and future needs.* Analyze space utilization and other facilities data across campus and compare against guidelines, peer institutions and accreditation requirements.Sustainability and Compliance:* Assist in integrating sustainable design principles into facility planning and management.* Enhance adherence to building codes, safety standards, SUNY guidelines, SUCF Directives, and environmental regulations.* Strive for operational efficiency to maximize fiscal and natural resources, and energy & sustainability* Bolster the campus commitment to universal design practicesRequirements:Minimum Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Architecture, Interior Design, Planning, or related field.* Proficiency in Excel spreadsheets, including use of pivot tables, charts and graphs, lookup functions, formulas, etc., and proficiency in analyzing data.* Effective in understanding and using building terminology, codes and safety regulations, and sustainability practices.* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.Preferred QualificationsIn addition to the aforementioned minimum qualifications, it is preferred the candidate also have:* Experience in higher education or institutional environments.* Proficiency in space planning software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and understanding of architectural principles.* 3-5 years of experience in facilities planning, space management, architecture, or similar role.* Relevant certifications such as LEED AP, CPHD/C, NYS Building Code, or similar.* Working knowledge of AI tools.* Proven ability to conduct space assessments, develop facility plans, and implement operational improvements.Additional Information:* This is an SL-4 position, with a salary range of $65,000 - $75,000.* This is full-time, calendar year position.* This position offers full New York State benefits which are some of the most comprehensive in the country.* SUNY Cobleskill is committed to providing a safe and productive learning and living community for our students and employees.
