Job Summary:

Maintains (preventive and corrective maintenance) and repairs ARx facilities, support systems, laboratory, and production equipment, with the primary focus being on safety and equipment reliability in a GMP environment. Actively manages documentation and spare parts (inventory and ordering). Effectively communicates all issues with department management and operations management.

Essential Functions:

Safely and effectively maintains all ARx equipment and facilities based on a thorough understanding of the manuals, drawings, and operating procedures; collaborates and considers input from other associates as needed.

Schedules, plans, and performs preventive maintenance and calibration tasks with the owners of the equipment.

Troubleshoots equipment and facilities problems as they arise; schedules, plans, and performs corrective maintenance tasks; responds to immediate needs as required maintaining safety, quality, and throughput of equipment.

Performs facility and equipment installations, modifications, and repairs under the direction of engineering department; includes welding and flame cutting, parts fabrication using machine tools, plumbing and electrical installation, testing, troubleshooting and documentation of work performed.

Obtain parts and supplies from stock, and initiates purchase requests for replacement parts or equipment as required for assigned repair work.

Initiate requests for equipment, tools, parts, and materials as required for equipment maintenance. Locate and procure specialized parts for equipment and maintain effective control and accountability for all such items under their jurisdiction.

Coordinates work with outside service providers/ contractors.

Assists in response to small hazardous waste spill clean-up following established procedures.

Adheres to ARx policies and procedures in carrying out maintenance assignments achieving excellence in timeliness, quality of work, documentation, inspection, and communication skills.

Responsible for training and provide technical support to lower-level mechanics and/or maintenance apprentices.

Responsible for creating and overseeing overall preventative maintenance program for divisional equipment and facilities.

Remains in compliance with personal training requirements of position syllabus.

Provides input and influences overall organization effectiveness in a positive and proactive manner.

Communicates effectively with peers, Engineers, Supervisors, Product Development Chemists/Scientists, and other AR associates, while maintaining the self-confidence and self-esteem of others; voluntarily assists other associates and communicates effectively to prevent problems from occurring.

Conducts all aspects of position in a professional, respectful manner consistent with ARx Guiding Principles; embraces 6S LEAN culture; organizes personnel workspace and appearance consistent with corporate and divisional professional image.

Responsible for following all relevant regulations (e.g., ISO, FDA, OSHA, EPA, DEP, etc.) and company procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by department manager or assignee.

Job Specifications

State Certified Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic or equivalent.

Four years experience as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic with training and experience in facilities maintenance, machinery repair, metal fabrication, welding, flame cutting, parts fabrication with machine tools, preventive maintenance services; repair and installation experience with electrical, industrial plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, equipment rigging and instrumentation systems.

Experience in calibration is preferred.

High School diploma or equivalent.

Driver's license and ability to operate a forklift.

Mechanical aptitude, math, and computer skills.

Strong organizational, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Can accommodate on-call schedules, and be able to respond to call-ins.

Self-motivated and team-oriented with the ability to work with minimal supervision and limited direction.

Must communicate fluently in English and have legible handwriting.

Must keep customer information confidential.

Physical Demands

Must be capable of lifting up to 50 + pounds.

Hand Functions

Dexterity and ability to operate power, machine and equipment moving tools.

Environmental

Must be capable of working in adverse, ambient conditions, indoor and outdoor.
