Job Description

Performs responsible paraprofessional work opening, closing and monitoring facility operations and assisting with and supervising recreational activities; does related work as required. Duties are performed under regular supervision.

The hiring range for this position is from $15.13/hour to $20.81/hour based on experience.

The full salary range for this position is from $15.13/hour to $26.48/hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.

Examples of Duties

* Preparing facilities for use; overseeing facility operations; serving as scorekeeper; monitoring activities and enforcing rules.

* Opens and closes recreation facilities;

* Sets up facilities, providing supplies and equipment;

* Supervises the conduct of a variety of recreational activities;

* Enforces standards of discipline and conduct by program participants;

* Assists in the organizing and preparation of recreational activities;

* Maintains stores and inventories recreation equipment, materials and supplies;

* Provides information to the public regarding center activities;

* Trash removal and general restroom upkeep;

* Performs related tasks as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Some knowledge of the methods and practices of community recreation work including knowledge of the equipment and techniques, relevant rules and regulations of social, artistic, craft and/or athletic programs for children, youths or adults;

* Ability to instruct common recreational activities;

* Ability to establish effective working relationships with other workers, program participants and the general public;

* Ability to enforce rules and regulations and maintain discipline.

Education and Experience

Graduation from high school or equivalent experience.
