Job Description :
The Director is responsible for assuring the management and delivery of the administrative, supervisory, and programmatic components of the facility consistent with approved policies, procedures, guidelines, and programs of KCI.Required Qualifications:A four-year degree in a social or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university, two years of work experience in a related field, and a minimum of two years in a supervisory position. Work experience may be substituted for academic studies exchanging one year of work experience in a related field for one year of academic education. Total work experience needed in lieu of the combination of education and work experience is six years, with two of the years in a supervisory position.Requirements
  • Administer, implement, and supervise the program, personnel, and operational policies and procedures of the facility.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all personnel, operational, fiscal, and programmatic policies and effectively execute these policies.
  • Develop and evaluate in-house programs.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager and corporate staff in developing program revisions, procedures, and updating guidelines.
  • Provide 24 hour per day, seven days per week staff duty coverage. The staffing pattern of the facility shall concentrate staff when most offenders are at the facility to ensure in-house program needs and Technical Proposal schedule are being met.
  • Recommend to the President program and policy, long range goals, short range objectives, and provide follow up data to assure goals are being accomplished.
  • Properly recruit, interview, and voucher potential employees through reference and employment checks and recommend applicants to be hired for staff positions to the President.
  • Maintain a complete, confidential, and current personnel record for each staff member and conduct an initial orientation for all new employees during their first week of employment.
  • Promptly complete and submit Employee Performance Appraisals to the Human Resources Manager. The evaluation shall be in writing, discussed with the employee, and signed by both the employee and the Director.
  • Develop adequate training opportunities for each staff member and ensure provision of same.
  • Ensure that a work schedule clearly defining the duty hours of each staff member will be posted two weeks prior to the scheduled work hours.
  • Manage job responsibilities at least possible expense.
  • Assist the President in developing and maintaining cooperative agreements, relationships, and liaisons with directors, department heads, etc. of other agencies on local, state, and federal levels.
  • Assist the President in developing and maintaining cooperative and effective relationships with community groups, local businesses, civic leaders, and news media personnel.
  • At the direction of the President, investigate staff and offender grievances and make appropriate recommendations and findings to the President.
  • Actively participate in professional and/or correctional associations/organizations to keep informed on emerging developments and issues that aid in the improvement and effectiveness of the facility.
  • Audit all offender files to assure compliance with current standards and procedures.
  • Audit entire facility monthly with auditing instrument dictated by President.
  • Assume responsibility for the correctness of all correspondence mailed from the facility. Review all reports to ensure that all forms and reports are forwarded to proper destination.
  • Oversee the orientation and training of volunteers and interns at the facility utilizing the Volunteer Manual.
