Typical starting pay will be at the beginning of the range, depending on qualifications.*Primary PurposeResponsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of all municipal buildings, facilities, and the city pool. This includes strategic planning, budget management, and coordination of maintenance activities, as well as managing capital improvement projects. The role ensures that all city facilities are well-maintained, functional, and compliant with safety standards, while also leading the planning and execution of major projects and renovations.SupervisionUnder the general supervision of the Chief of Staff.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the tasks and projects of Facility Maintenance employees. Reviews incoming work orders and schedules personnel and equipment in accordance with job requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that regular maintenance, preventative maintenance, HVAC, remodels and renovations, inspections, and other assigned work is effectively and efficiently being completed.
  • Oversees all maintenance and water quality operations at Republic's The Rush aquatic park. Works in tandem with Parks & Recreation's leadership to ensure facility is ready for daily operations, programming, and rentals, including planning for seasonal operations, pool infrastructure maintenance, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Acts as the project manager for capital improvement initiatives related to City buildings and infrastructure. Responsibilities include planning, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating contractors and internal staff to complete projects on time and within budget. Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure project scope and objectives are met.
  • Ensures all City buildings and facilities meet safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements, including accessibility standards, environmental guidelines, and health codes. Leads efforts for regular inspections and audits.
  • Prepares and manages the Facility Maintenance Department's budget. Controls expenditures of funds and provides recommendations for major equipment or material purchases. Procures various supplies in accordance with the City's current purchasing guidelines.
  • Regularly reports on the status of maintenance operations, capital projects, and budgetary issues to City leadership. Collaborates with other City departments to align facility maintenance goals with overall organizational priorities.
  • Develops and manages a comprehensive maintenance plan for all City facilities, including preventive maintenance schedules, repair plans, and lifecycle replacement strategies.
  • Reports damage and loss using proper report procedures, secures estimates for repairs, organizes, and supervises internal repairs to equipment when skills and experience are sufficient.
  • Oversees and directs maintenance of facility maintenance vehicles and equipment. Maintains a record of equipment hours used and vehicle maintenance. Maintains an inventory of equipment and tools. Provides the proper storage and care of tools and equipment.
  • Oversees recruitment and selection of personnel within Facility Maintenance. Provides all necessary job training, professional development, and evaluation of work. Maintains discipline, conduct, appearance, and all required records of personnel within department.
  • Strategically plans and leads long-term facility maintenance goals, objectives, and strategies for the department to ensure efficient organization and completion of work.
  • Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the set-up and delivery of special events offered by the Parks and Recreation Department as needed.
  • Deals effectively and courteously with fellow employees and the public.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Attends in-service training sessions or other training sessions deemed appropriate by supervisor or department head for professional development purposes.
  • Represents the department in meetings with other City departments and outside vendors.

  • Minimum QualificationsEducation & Experience
    • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Higher education in a related field is preferred.
    • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a professional maintenance position or related field. Professional municipal experience preferred.
    • Must have at least five (5) years of leadership experience.

    • Must possess a valid Missouri State Driver's License.
    • Must possess or obtain and maintain an AFO Certification within one (1) year of employment.
    Miscellaneous Requirements
    • Will be required to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

    • Must be a dependable person due to the small size of the work force.
    • May be subject to random substance abuse testing.
