The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is seeking a Facility Operations Supervisor. In this role, you will oversee maintenance and custodial operations for the buildings and grounds of our Harrisburg Military Post. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will plan, supervise, and actively participate in a variety of building maintenance and grounds tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and painting. You will inspect ongoing and completed work to ensure it meets established standards. Additionally, you will train new employees on proper procedures and safety protocols, manage custodial supply needs by requisitioning necessary materials, and maintain comprehensive records of state property and equipment. You will also inspect buildings and grounds to assess repair, maintenance, and housekeeping needs, and assign tasks to staff accordingly.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

+ Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week

+ Work hours are 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

+ Two years of skilled trades work experience in commercial, industrial, multi-unit residential facilities, or utility plant operations; or

+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

+ This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirement:

+ You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

+ Building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades. Examples of qualifying trades include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, steam fitting/pipefitting, refrigeration/HVAC, painting, roofing/tinsmith, drywall/plasterer, and automotive mechanic work that includes performing technical duties on motors, engines, and electrical systems.

+ Formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade.

+ Experience in the carpentry, plumbing, and electrical fields.

+ Experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and/or HVAC systems.

+ Commercial maintenance experience.

+ Experience with 3-phase wiring to include emergency generators, switch gears and 3-phase panels.

+ Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats and instantaneous water heaters.

+ Experience with Life Safety Code and Uniform Construction Code (UCC).

+ Experience reading and interpreting blue prints, technical or rough sketches.

+ Experience creating estimates, ordering materials, or laying out projects.

+ Supervisory experience in the trade's fields.
