The purpose of the Fair Housing Administrative Assistant is to perform a variety of clerical and administrative duties relative to the intake processing and/or disposition of allegations and inquiries of unlawful discrimination in state, local, and municipal agencies, and the private sector. Responsibilities of the Fair Housing Administrative Assistant:
  • Ascertains timely service of properly executed charges of discrimination; receives and analyzes charges to ensure compliance with agency regulations; formalizes and accurately logs charges in agency databases; identifies appropriate complaint and respondent contact information; prepares service packets; and serves charges to the appropriate complainant and respondent contact.
  • Utilizing the guidelines set forth by the SCHAC/HUD workshare agreement, identifies charges to be deferred to HUD; formalizes and serves perfected charges; prepares waiver packet; and maintains SCHAC documentation of the deferral.
  • Prepares case files for investigations; accurately identities and tabs case documentation; and prepares and mails case assignment letters to the appropriate complainant and respondent contacts.
  • Maintains well organized and up to date filing systems for pending charges, complainant dismissals, and charge deferrals.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Minimum and Additional RequirementsMinimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma and clerical experience.
  • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
