Description
As a Family Support Worker, you will provide parenting education and support to families. Healthy Families is a home visiting program designed to assist parents in either enhancing or learning the skills that enable them to provide a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for their children. You will report to the Healthy Families Supervisor and you will work onsite with community-based travel required.
Responsibilities:
Establish positive and professional relationships with families and provide services in their home.
Utilize appropriate curricula and support materials to educate families on positive parent-child interaction and child development.
Model and demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Assist families in becoming more discerning consumers of community services and make referrals as need arise.
Participate in the development of a service plan for each family.
Ensure that families have identified a primary healthcare provider and are receiving essential medical services.
Responsibly perform duties associated with special program services i.e. FRC, special events, etc.
Complete assigned paperwork as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements and Education:
High School Diploma
Two years of work experience in human services.
Experience with parenting education and/or early childhood development, preferred.
Must have a valid NYS driver's license, safe driving record, and have access to a vehicle for full-time business use.
