We specialize in conifer, shade, ornamental, and fruit trees. This is a fast-paced, innovative organization that is revolutionizing the way trees are grown for increased performance and aesthetic appeal. Schwope Brothers West Coast is part of the DCA Outdoor family of brands, which is a vertically integrated organization focused on streamlining the production and distribution of landscape products nationwide.The production manager is responsible for executing the production plan through directing the lead production staff to deliver crops efficiently and to the highest quality. By leading the leaders of multiple areas, they are expected to manage their resources, equipment, facilities and inventory effectively.Key Accountabilities:
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable direct reports: Provide regular coaching and feedback, remove obstacles, and hold the team accountable for the execution of work
  • Organize, prioritize, and manage workflow: Proactively plan and monitor workflow to provide for the most efficient operations to ensure the highest possible quality and yield of the crop
  • Inventory and Crop Grading Accuracy: Prioritize and lead processes to maintain the accuracy of the production inventory and grading of the crops
  • People and Equipment Utilization: Organize, plan, and prioritize the allocation of equipment, people, and supplies for Production and Harvest Seasons
  • Budgeting: Develop and manage to an operational budget
Essential Job Duties:
  • Professional Meetings - Participate in Senior leadership meeting for operations. Lead department meetings and conduct 1:1 meetings with direct reports.
  • Work Order Management - Ensure utilization of work-order system to identify and proactively manage work on the farm.
  • Inspection- Inspection of crops, supplies, and equipment to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and quality.
  • Seasonal Goals - Create clarity for the team what the goals are seasonally. Re-allocate resources as necessary to ensure success.
  • Capacity Modeling and KPI's - Ensure the resources necessary to deliver the expected crop are budgeted for and utilized efficiently. Work is to be measured and compared to budget monthly.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of tree production
  • Pest identification and treatment knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
  • Technically savvy with ERP systems including experience managing inventory systems
  • Experience leading the planning and execution of a comprehensive production plan

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Required: 3-5 years' management experience
  • Highly Preferred: 3-5 years tree production experience
  • Highly Preferred: Bi-lingual English and Spanish
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in an agricultural or horticultural field
  • Highly Preferred: Working experience in nurseries and thegreen industry or related fields
