Workers will bundle harvest bags, load dryer boxes, bail bundles of harvested material from the fields, remove tassel bags, or other used supplies from the fields, shoot bags, or used supplies from the field. Sorting harvest bundles for shipping to shelling hubs. Laying out harvested material in tubs for selection. To perform this kind of worker must be able to work outside for at least seven (7) hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite strength and endurance, working quickly and skillfully with their hands. The employer will provide the tools necessary (if applicable) to perform the job described without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the workers refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such workers willful damage or destruction of the tools. Plot Maintenance: Hand pulling weeds, hoeing weeds, rogueing off-type plants from corn field, placing stakes, attaching row tags. Husk/ Sort Description: The corn flows over the husking beds, which remove the husk. Once the corn Is husked, its added to the sorting tables where workers will check for any remaining husk on the ears. The workers will do quality checks looking for corn/ears that are discolored, abnormal, or moldy, and remove it from the sorting table. General Farm Labor / Clean-up of Field Property and Housing for Harvesting Workers: Workers on physical work restrictions or when harvesting work is not available may be required to perform miscellaneous clean-up work on field property, on structures utilized in the field operation, and on housing for harvesting workers. Such clean-up activities include the sprouting, pruning, and painting; debris removal, weeding, irrigation repair, housing and structure cleaning and repair; and general field clean-up as required. Dryer loadouts support the production process with labor as needed during the loadout process. While performing the duties the worker is regularly required to stand, make repetitive reach motion with arms and hands while applying physical exertion, pulling, pushing, twisting at the waste, walk on uneven surfaces, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. Dryer loadouts will unload, and complete kernel cleans on all dryer bins. Green Corn Unloading: Green Corn Unloaders will support the production process with labor as needed during the unloading of green corn trucks. Follow oral and written instructions to collect samples from trucks, sweep/shovel corn as it piles up by pit, sweep/blow off floors, sides, and canopy frames of trailers. It may be necessary for workers to assist in the use, repair, and operation of farm equipment such as tractors, trucks, trailers, and harvest machinery. Workers will be paid the highest of the adverse effect wage rate, the prevailing wage rate, or the applicable minimum wage rate for time spent performing such clean-up work. Quality Check/Sampling: monitoring quality through visual checks or sampling, setting up materials, loading materials onto equipment, stacking/unstacking product, material handling via forklift, picking, and preparing loads for shipment. Re-working product by replacing labeling, or loading bags onto conveyors, and general housekeeping. They will be checking quality by comparing pictures of acceptable quality to current products and rejecting items not meeting the standard. These duties comprise 10% of the workers time and will be performed at a facility in the field on the farm. The role requires occasional lifting of bags weighing between 45 and 60 lbs. The role requires the ability to climb stairs and/or ladders. The role also requires the ability to operate a forklift to move products and materials.
