Full-time Fatherhood Specialist position servicing Victoria county with in-person community work. Candidate must reside within Victoria, TX or in the direct surrounding areas.

PRIMARY FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILTY

Satisfactory implementation and delivery of the Fatherhood: Educating Fathers for Empowering Children Tomorrow (EFFECT) Program, within the context of the SJRC Texas Quality Essential Requirements.

A Fatherhood Specialist implements the Nurturing Fathers Program to teach parenting and nurturing skills to men. Utilizing the Nurturing Fathers Curriculum in culturally sensitive ways, the Fatherhood Specialist partners, facilitates, and reflects with fathers helping them build effective skills for healthy family relationships and child development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative

* Maintain accurate logs and records as required by the SJRC Texas, PEI and Fatherhood Effect Program.

* Prepare and submit monthly reports as scheduled by the Family Enrichment Department including but not limited to a monthly Family Enrichment Services Report, mileage documentation and time keeping.

* Maintain the ability to use time and resources effectively to meet job requirements.

* Maintain up to date client records-meeting all Nurturing Fathers requirements for documentation in family folders and in required databases.

* Ensure all program data is accurate and detailed.

* Abide by TPCN documentation and billing guidelines.

* Demonstrate strong organizational and record keeping skills.

Program

* Participate in staff meetings, trainings and conferences as required by SJRC Texas and Fatherhood EFFECT Program

* Effectively administer the Adult Adolescent Parenting Inventory (AAPI 2.1), Protective Factors Survey and the Life Skills Progression (LSP) to all qualified Nurturing Fathers participants

* Effectively deliver parenting services using the Nurturing Father's curriculum

* Plan, provide and document group visits.

* Maintain parent confidentiality.

* Help parents and children transition to other services as needed.

* Develop and maintain trusting relationships with fathers as a model for parent-child relationships.

* Support and promote the philosophy and integrity of Nurturing Fathers Program

* Be available to provide Nurturing Fathers presentations at health fairs and to individuals, school staff, or community agencies.

* Be available to respond to phone or written communication from individuals seeking information on Nurturing Fathers Program or Family Enrichment Services.

* Assist with completion of the Fatherhood Effect Annual Program Report.

* Monitor and manage a healthy balance between personal and professional responsibilities.

* Engage in recruitment activities.

* Design and Lead Community-wide Fatherhood Initiative Coalition Meetings.

* Collaborate with Marketing Department to ensure the fatherhood demographic is represented.

* Nurture and build relationships in community in support of fathers/father-figures.

* Engage and recruit fathers and families.

* Maintain regular and long-term contact/support with families with a family centered and strength-based approach.

* Assist families in strengthening the parent-child relationship, optimizing home environment, improving the family support system, and establishing goals.

* Provides information and referral regarding employment, educational and training opportunities to fathers who seek to improve their financial base.

* Provides information, education, and activities regarding child development to fathers and other members of their families that enhance child development and father-child relationships.

* Conducts assessments of normal growth and development of the target child as needed.

* Assists with program participant Support Groups, Parenting Classes, obtaining donations and any other projects assigned by Supervisor.

* Identifies and refers for contact/appointments at other supportive agencies, including health care appointments completing necessary referral forms.

* Helps to secure additional funding to continue and expand the fatherhood program with assistance and direction from the Supervisor.

* Meets on a regular, planned basis for a minimum of 1 hours per week with Supervisor at a regularly scheduled time.

* Other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

* Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development or Social Science field of study preferred.

* 1+ Years in Social Services Field including early childhood education, social work, health, psychology, or related field.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

* Valid state drivers license, good driving record, ability to provide own transportation and proof of current automobile insurance.

* CPR/First Aid Certification (provided)

* Nurturing Fathers Program Certification (provided)

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION

* As this position is remote, stable internet connection is also needed.

* Must have the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.

* Must have the ability to give and receive verbal and written instructions (with or without hearing aids).

* Must have the ability to read fine print, have sustained vision, and peripheral vision (with or without glasses).

* Environment requires dexterity to remain calm and adapt to fast paced and emotional environments consisting of children with moderate to severe emotional and psychological needs.

* Campuses are smoke-free, except on permitted campuses in designated areas.
