Works with agency supervisors, managers, and employees to explain RA rules, regulations, procedures, rights, and obligations. The Federal Reasonable Accommodation Specialist will be responsible for efficiently reviewing RA cases and ensuring there is a nexus between the accommodation requested and the employee's disability. This role requires a deep understanding of concepts, principles, regulations, and policies governing reasonable accommodation and equal employment opportunities related to persons with disabilities. Including relevant judicial and administrative decisions. Responsibilities:
- Providing advisory and consulting services to agency employees at all levels concerning reasonable accommodation cases.
- Utilize a wide range of HR techniques to analyze case law, principles, practices, and regulations to make informed recommendations or take appropriate actions based on case-specific factors.
- Follow established agency Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for accurate decision-making.
- Work directly with first-line supervisors/managers to ensure they are fully engaged in the interactive RA process and that reasonable accommodation issues are addressed.
- Review medical documentation to assess whether an individual requesting an accommodation qualifies as having a disability under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, and other applicable laws and regulations.
- Use agency and internal automated tools to receive, update, upload, and track work.
- Exercise judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness in adapting or refining broader guidelines to resolve complex issues.
- Cultivate and maintain productive working relationships with federal colleagues, stakeholders, and leadership to share information on reasonable accommodation cases.
Required Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Federal Reasonable Accommodations Specialist.
