Job Description: Field Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer
A leading industrial engineering firm is seeking an experienced Field Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer to design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems. This role involves leading small projects and providing direct support to maintenance teams to ensure efficient and safe operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage small-scale I&C projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to specifications, timelines, and budgets
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems in the field
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to maintenance teams and operations staff
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations for all I&C systems
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of field activities, including calibration records, maintenance logs, and issue reports
- Develop and complete projects based on items identified through Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or related field)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in instrumentation and control systems
- Proficiency in reading instrumentation drawings, logic diagrams, and using general-purpose software (e.g., MS Office)
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
- Relevant certifications preferred: EIT, ISA, PMP, PMI, or PE
- TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) required
Work Environment
- Primary work locations: Industrial settings such as chemical plants, oil and gas facilities, and manufacturing plants
- Hybrid work schedule: Remote work on Mondays and Fridays, on-site Tuesdays through Thursdays
- 9/80 work schedule
- Various work environments including office, warehouse, and construction site trailers or buildings
- Moderate to high noise levels on construction sites
- Exposure to light and heavy equipment vehicles, various tools and materials, and diverse communication equipment
