The incumbent will lead a field crew, assure quality assurance of monitoring data, compile data, write summary reports, manage budgets, help with monitoring/sampling design and assist with training field crews, and ensure compliance with UI policies and procedures.Responsibilities Job Duty Function Program management Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Collect, compile and summarize program data for reports
  • Maintain program budgets, monitoring and reviewing transactions for compliance with program requirements
  • Participate in the development and implementation of program deliverables, services and activities
  • Participate in developing program operating goals, objectives and protocols
  • Active participation in the development and submission of program proposals
Percentage Of Time 40% Essential/Marginal Essential Job Duty Function Field crew coordination and management Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Coordinate a team with a variety array of talents and responsibilities
  • Lead collection and compilation of monitoring data
  • Manage the work of others and lead the field crew to accomplish assigned goals
  • Ensure field crew conducts tasks safely and follows UI protocols.
Percentage Of Time 40% Essential/Marginal Essential Job Duty Function Research and data analysis Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Lead QA/QC of data and conduct initial data exploration
  • Support efforts to utilize the monitoring data for research and outreach
Percentage Of Time 10% Essential/Marginal Marginal Job Duty Function Support the Rangeland Center and College of Natural Resources Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Support other research, monitoring, outreach, or administrative efforts within the unit.
Percentage Of Time 10% Essential/Marginal MarginalPosition Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree; four years of experience in coordinating a monitoring program may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in natural resources monitoring
  • Working in a team environment to accomplish shared goals
  • Collecting, compiling, summarizing and analyzing data for administrative reports
  • Ability to obtain an Idaho's driver's license and to travel to field locations
  • Independent problem solving and performing tasks efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Knowledge of the common grasses, forbs, and shrubs of Idaho's rangelands
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in rangeland ecology or other natural resources field
  • Master's degree in natural resources or similar field
  • Ability to design and implement a monitoring program that utilizes approved monitoring methods
  • Experience in a research setting
  • Program coordination or management experience
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry and/or otherwise move 50 lbs
  • Ability to work outside of normal working hours as necessary to perform job duties
  • Ability to work alone or in a team environment
