Canal Barge Company / Illinois Marine TowingJOB DESCRIPTIONField Operations SchedulerI. BASIC FUNCTIONThe IMT Field Operations Scheduler supports IMT Shipyard Operations, including Liquid Barge Services, and IMT Transportation Services outof the Joliet, Illinois office. The Field Operations Scheduler will provide business hours and after-hours services to provide efficient use of the company's equipment and personnel. The Field Operations Scheduler will maximize customer service to allow for the achievement of company goals and objectives under the direction of the Traffic Manager. This position requires rotating on-call requirements for after-hours and weekend responsibilities.II. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the primary planner/scheduler of Shore Tankermen, barge repairs and other barge activities in support of the IMT Lemont Shipyard.
  • Assign all repairs and inspections, with the assistance of supervisors, to the Barge Maintenance Superintendents. Ensure flawless communications with customers, vendors, and fellow IMT employees.
  • Provide dispatch support for Tankerman Services Group and ensure that all Shore Tankermen (in-house and third party) requirements are communicated in a timely manner.
  • Monitor emails, calls, and other messages to communicate information to those who need it.
  • Monitor and enter barge maintenance reports into the Tow Works system.
  • Maintain an accurate log of all incoming calls, personnel locations and barge cleanings.
  • Provide a daily completion report to the IMT Transportation Services Group and Tankermen Services Group.
  • Learn the IMT barge services (customer commitments and requirements) and how to fulfill them under the direction of the IMT Traffic Manager.
  • Develop working relationships with docks and customers to dispatch Tankermen or barge repair personnel in an efficient manner.
  • Communicate with Tankermen, Dry Barge Technicians, Liquid Barge Technicians, and the Shipyard Services staff according to requirements.
  • Elevate issues to area Dispatchers for resolution. Provide administrative support, as needed, for barge and vessel repair staff. May provide dispatch support for Illinois River towing vessels, as needed.

  • Perform other duties as required and directed by management.

IV. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPThe IMT Field Operations Scheduler reports to the IMT Traffic Manager.V. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
  • High school diploma, or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in Logistics,
  • Business Administration, or other related field is preferred.
  • Two years' experience in an office setting.
  • Familiarization with the inland marine waterway is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
VI. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires prolonged periods of stationary work at a desk on a telephone and computer. May move items weighing up to 20 pounds in the office for various needs.VII.
