Position: Field Project Quantity Surveyor

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Field Project Quantity Surveyor (Mechanical, Civil/Structural) is responsible for the gathering, validation, analysis and reporting of construction physical progress. The Quantity Surveyor utilizing issued for construction engineered drawings, will prepare quantity takeoffs for each commodity (Piping, Mechanical, Civil, Structural) as necessary to support the stablished project breakdown structures. Conducts routine field walk throughs to quantify physical installed quantities. Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out EVM tasks supporting in a timely and accurate manner the project controls and construction management efforts.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare quantity take-offs and progress reports (both tabular and graphic).
- Ensure adherence to AP's reporting processes and formats.
- Collaborate with the Project Control (PC) Team to support project strategies and deliverables.
- Assist the Lead Planner and Lead Cost Engineer in maintaining systems, tools, and preparing routine reports.
- Monitor and validate quantities reported by construction contractors.
- Assist in reconciling quantities and identifying discrepancies between engineering drawings and as-built data.
- Support the validation of field change orders.
- Provide physical installed quantities for Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting.
- Contribute to the preparation and updating of construction progress and earned value reports.
- Attend construction meetings and provide necessary reports.
- Participate in project meetings, offering schedule updates and recommendations.
- Assist home office staff with the coordination, monitoring, and reporting of construction progress and EVM activities.
The position is based at an industrial construction job site. Ideal candidates must have strong experience in construction projects for the industrial gases or oil and gas/petrochemicals industries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Experience working as a project quantity surveyor in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in the interpretation of engineering drawings and the use of MS Excel is a must.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge of project management principles and techniques, including schedule development, resource management, and risk analysis.
