Job Title: Refrigeration & HVAC Technician
Overview:
This position involves the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of refrigeration, heating, and air-conditioning systems in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities. The technician will work under the guidance of a Lead or Master Service Technician.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance on refrigeration systems and self-contained merchandisers.
- Assist with compressor changes, leak detection, and coil cleaning.
- Acquire knowledge through on-the-job training, product updates, and service bulletins.
- Complete paperwork (work tickets, timesheets) and electronic communication accurately and on time.
- Use a handheld computer for paperwork and invoicing.
- Manage truck inventory and adhere to vehicle maintenance guidelines.
- Use standard tools for refrigeration and HVAC service, including refrigerant recovery equipment.
- Develop and maintain excellent customer relationships, explaining equipment malfunctions clearly.
- Service various refrigeration systems, including conventional and parallel rack systems, walk-ins, and refrigerated merchandisers.
- Perform basic electrical troubleshooting, system diagnostics, and handle R290 refrigerant safely.
- De-ice coils, replace fan motors, wash condenser coils, and assist with system evacuation and charging.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Required: High School Diploma/GED.
- Preferred: HVAC-R Technical School Degree.
- Experience: 5+ years in the field
- Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, bend, crouch, climb ladders, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Skills: Strong communication, mechanical aptitude, basic HVAC knowledge, and ability to work nights/weekends.
- Certifications: EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- Other: Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
Additional Information:
- Familiarity with commercial refrigeration, HVAC systems, and electrical schematics is preferred.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
