Your responsibilities will include managing various tasks such as vegetation removal, guardrail repairs, concrete structure repair and replacement, and preservative seal/dust palliative applications. We Require
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three years of related construction or maintenance work experience
  • Must possess a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • State and federal regulations require Maricopa County to conduct a pre-employment safety history investigation for all positions that require an applicant to possess a commercial driver's license (CDL). Maricopa County is also required to conduct a pre-employment safety history investigation for positions that directly impact commercial motor vehicle safety but may not specifically require a valid CDL

Job Contributions
  • Supervise employees performing operations and maintenance activities; assure that all safety rules and regulations are observed on the job site
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign daily work to meet project needs and schedules; assure completion of work orders to meet Division standards and monitor equipment and material usage reports
  • Prepare and process costs; estimate time, labor, equipment, and materials needed for projects and work orders; may order, purchase, pick up, and deliver materials, supplies, tools, and equipment. Assist in budget preparation and administration and monitor expenditures
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and maps, and inspect roadways and structures to determine project scopes and maintenance needs
  • Complete daily written reports and enter information in the asset management system (Cartegraph)
  • Resolve and respond to complaints and inquiries from the public and various government agencies
  • Provide on-call emergency response services as scheduled
  • Direct the daily activities of assigned staff; coordinate and schedule staff, vehicles, and equipment; review the work of staff to assure the work quality and timely accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Work with employees to correct performance deficiencies, counsel, and implement discipline procedures as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
  • Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly
  • The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
  • Must have manual dexterity of hands and body to operate heavy equipment such as graders, loaders, compactors, rollers, semi tractors and trailers, dump trucks, water trucks, sweepers, oil distributor trucks, paint stripers, and other types of road maintenance equipment as well as various types of office equipment
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, drive, climb, and bend
