Job Description :
We are seeking a Field Technician to join our team as a remote worker who will travel to customer locations in the San Jose, CA area.This role entails providing on-site setup and installation services for industrial inkjet printers at customer sites. Responsibilities include coordinating with customers to fulfill pre-installation requirements, assisting in unloading printer components, and positioning the printer in the customer s facility.Your key responsibilities: Unpacking and inspecting printer components, including the controller, print heads, remote cabinets, and all UV components, while ensuring electrical power and compressed air with the help of a certified electrician. Conducting initial setup and adjustment, and performing thorough testing to ensure the printer meets factory standards for image quality. Providing formal training to customer operators on printer maintenance and operation. Coordinating training sessions with inkjet customers based on their specific needs. Assessing additional training requirements and making recommendations to customers regarding their inkjet systems. Conducting periodic on-site troubleshooting and repairs, addressing complex electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic problems under the guidance of the Field Service Manager and/or Inkjet customer support team. Providing detailed technical feedback through the Inkjet Case Management System (CMS) during and after each customer visit, following Inkjet guidelines. Adhering to demanding travel schedules, with up to 75% of work time spent on travel. Occasional weekend work may be required to meet customer needs.You could excel in this role if you have: A minimum of a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, digital, and electronic technology. At least two years of experience in field engineering positions, servicing complex electro-mechanical devices in high-demand customer locations. Demonstrated skills in customer management and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction. The ability to independently manage a large service territory, including effective management of assets such as parts, tools, and company information. Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical problems to the component level. The ability to provide telephone technical support and effectively communicate (via phone and email) with Product Service Engineers (Hardware and Applications). Working knowledge of RIPS, color theory, Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, and basic networking protocols. Familiarity with materials and chemicals used in the printing industry is highly desirable. In-depth knowledge of personal computers, industrial inkjet printers, large format printers and/or presses, and printing applications. Familiarity with high and low voltage wiring, capable of identifying and qualifying single phase as well as three phase power requirements. Strong mechanical aptitude, including the ability to use critical alignment tools and maintain tolerances of .001 . Regularly lifting objects weighing up to 50lb. The ability to work within confined spaces, crawl on hard concrete floors, and physically maneuver to access components.
