JOB SUMMARY:
This position will work 15 hours a week with an hourly rate of $20. This position is responsible for overseeing fieldwork placements (pre-student teaching) under the supervision of the Associate Director of Field Experiences.
SALARY INFORMATION:
In compliance with New York's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $20. REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Field Experiences
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Place all candidates in (pre-student teaching) fieldwork placements for in a timely fashion, working with key personnel across all CEHS departments to secure these placements and through direct outreach with school districts.
Continue to refine the online fieldwork application process to enable candidates to register most efficiently and to provide our office with the most current student registration information to best place these candidates in fieldwork sites.
Ensure a Memorandum of Understanding is fully executed prior to finalizing placements with schools and school districts.
Maintain a database of fieldwork placements that provide evidence of meeting NYSED and accreditation standards and to ensure that each of our teacher candidates have diverse experiences that will promote best teaching and student learning strategies. Provide periodic reports to the Senior Director of Student Success and Associate Director of Field Experiences.
Directly conveys fieldwork requirements effectively to all candidates using appropriate communication sources, including maintaining up-to-date information on the Office of Student Success Moodle site and through visits (as requested) to those classes with candidates who are taking fieldwork courses. Collaborate on multimedia presentations that outline fieldwork information to students, supervisors, adjuncts, and other key stakeholders.
Communicate with faculty about the fieldwork process in order to work cooperatively to place students at school sites, with an emphasis on placements in cohorts and in partner sites. Oversee and enforce the collection and review of Site Information Forms.
Communicate effectively with school and district personnel in order to secure diverse placements and operative partnerships.
Attend and participate in internal team and university meetings .
Work with the Office of Student Success and faculty to plan periodic school visits, to maintain relationships with administrators and teacher mentors and build additional partnerships as needed for fieldwork.
Communicate fingerprinting requirements for fieldwork placements and collaborate with certification officers to ensure clearance.
Report to Associate Director of Field Experience and be able to take direction, initiative, and work as part of a high-functioning team.
Perform other job related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Organized and detail-oriented
Strong oral and written communications skills
Knowledge of digital media and video technology
Able to prioritize workload according to volume and urgency
Excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to work as part of a team
Able to manage database systems
Working knowledge of Excel and ability to learn other software systems as needed
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree is required.
Education background; teacher certification is preferred.
At least 6 credits of coursework in Digital Technology is preferred.
