Job Description :
The Director of Finance is responsible for the recording of all pertinent financial data, transactions, hiring, training, supervision of bookkeeping personnel and assisting with budget preparation and other financial functions.*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*:Oversees the accounting department to insure proper accounting for all pertinent records.Oversees the payroll and accounts payable departments, including serving as backup when payroll/accounts payable clerk is offSchedules and maintains daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual processes and reports as required.Recruits, trains and supervises bookkeeping assistant.Serves as a resource person for other department heads, superiors, peers and subordinates regarding questions on the annual budget or capital purchases.Coordinates year-end activities including Medicare and Medicaid audits and other required audits.Oversees, directs or assists in assuring monthly apartment, Assistance in Living and Health Center billings are submitted timely and within required regulations. Processes and maintains all necessary reports according to regulations.Submits all Medicare Part A and Part B and Medicaid billings. Reviews billings for accuracy and reasonableness.Monitors, reports regularly and follows-up on all past due accounts.Prepares all supporting documentation for the monthly financials for the staff accountant at the management company and serves as the financial liaison for the management company.11. Directs or performs required inputting in the accounts receivable system and reviews the output for accuracy prior to release.12. Processes or assures Medical Assistance Applications are processed for residents.13. Processes monthly accounts receivable reports, acts on collections and takes accounts to District Justice when necessary.14. Prepares special reports upon request and regularly informs supervisor regarding the status of accounts and financial activity.15. Delegates' authority to supervisory staff for task details to facilitate smooth flow of materials and services.16. Maintains an accurate facility census and daily ties it to the SNF census.17. Assists with the financial aspects of admission for SNF, Apartments and ALU.18. Acts as a liaison with the bank. Act as third signature on bank accounts after Executive Director and Associate Director.19. Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices, assuring resident safety.*OTHER DUTIES*:1. Maintains resident and Health Center resident business files.2. Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and the monitoring of the same as directed Executive Director.3. Prepares investment and operation reports for the Board of Managers Finance Committee Meeting and other reports as requested by the Board of Managers.4. Attends Board of Manager Finance Meetings.5. Processes, submits and follows-up on all submitted insurance claims.6. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.7. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by Executive Director.*EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS*:Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Associate Degree in Accounting with related healthcare and billing experience. Must possess a thorough knowledge of general accounting principles.Documented skills in leadership, supervision and communication.Minimum of three years experience with G/L, A/P, A/R, financial statement preparation. Previous experience with Medicare systems and procedures in a hospital, retirement or long-term care setting essential.Proficient in the use of business office machines, computers, Excel and word processing.*PHYSICAL DEMANDS:*Must be able to sit at a desk for up to six hours per day; must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, and squat to access files and various documentation; must be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently; may be exposed to a constant noise level due to the printers located in the office.NOTE: In maintaining compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), this job description may be modified or enhanced as needed._Efforts have been made to develop a complete job description; however, please be aware that the duties and requirements listed herein are not only duties which you may be required to perform.
