Position Overview
We are seeking a Finance Director to drive financial strategy and operations as we scale our unique wardrobe essentials business.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Financial Leadership
Partner with founders and executive team to develop and execute financial strategyLead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processesDevelop financial models for new business initiatives and market expansionCreate and maintain rolling cash flow forecastsManage relationships with investors, banks, and financial partnersDevelop financial models for drop-based inventory managementCreate pricing strategies for limited edition releasesForecast cash requirements for production cyclesAnalyze performance metrics for each dropOptimize working capital for seasonal collectionsOversee all day-to-day financial operationsImplement cost control measures across the organizationLead external audit processesEnsure compliance with accounting standards and regulationsOperations & Analysis
Partner with department heads to develop and track departmental P&LsImplement standardized cost tracking and reporting systems by departmentEstablish monthly financial review processes with department headsLead quarterly business reviews focusing on operational KPIs and financial metricsOversee monthly close process and financial reportingDesign Budgets
Work with Design and Development teams to:Develop collection budgets and cost targetsCreate financial guardrails for design and developmentAnalyze profitability by collection and styleOptimize sample and development costsAccounts Receivable
Develop and implement robust AR + AP tracking systemsCreate standardized processes for regular reconciliation of wholesale accountsEstablish clear aging reports and collection procedures for outstanding invoicesDesign and implement an early warning system for potential payment issues.Create and maintain aging receivables recovery procedures.Work with wholesale team to set appropriate termsImprove monthly reporting templates for receivables statusDevelop cash flow forecasting models based on collection patternsAccounts Payable
Develop and implement streamlined accounts payable processes to optimize cash flow managementEstablish clear approval hierarchies and payment authorization protocolsCreate standardized procedures for invoice processing, approval workflows, and payment schedulingDevelop reporting tools to provide visibility into upcoming payment obligations and cash requirementsImplement policies for capturing early payment discounts where financially advantageousCoordinate with Production and Operations teams to align payment schedules with production calendarsLead regular reconciliations with external book-keepersOversee month-end closing processes related to accounts payableDevelop contingency planning for managing cash flow constraints during seasonal production cyclesInvestor Relations & Capital Strategy
Develop investor reporting packages and dashboardsCreate financial models for fundraising roundsPrepare and deliver investor presentations and quarterly updatesDevelop and track key performance indicators important to investorsMaintain cap table and equity management systemsPrepare financial documentation for board meetingsRequired Qualifications & Technical Skills
Qualified accountant (CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent)10+ years of finance experience, with +5 years in luxury fashion or DTC brandsStrong experience with direct-to-consumer business modelsExperience with international operations and multiple currenciesAdvanced Excel and financial modeling skillsExperience with ERP systems, especially RLMExperience with e-commerce platforms, especially Shopify Plus & Global-EProven track record in cross-functional financial leadershipExperience in managing wholesale accounts receivableSuccess Metrics (First 12 Months)
