The City of Stevens Point is seeking a dynamic and team-oriented professional to serve as the Finance Office Manager/Deputy Comptroller Treasurer. This position is responsible for supervising the front office staff, and is critical for the smooth operations of the office. Duties include setting procedures and protocols, assignment of work duties, preparing various reports, reconciliation of bank accounts, and processing various financial transactions. This position has considerable responsibilities related to annual budget preparation, including calculating budget amounts.
The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and technical skills, above average math skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of governmental accounting, supervisory experience, and experience working in government is a plus. This position reports directly to the Comptroller-Treasurer.
Position Summary
Tasks Routinely Performed
* Supervises other personnel in office to include approving requests for time off, completing and performing performance evaluations, goal setting, training, coaching, discipline, and discharge.
* Sets operational processes and procedures, and implements new technology, including identifying opportunities to improve efficiency or respond to emerging needs, researching the feasibility of solutions and identifying impacts across the organization, collaborating with relevant parties, and coordinating the implementation.
* Reconcile the general, payroll accounts, and other designated accounts to the Bank Statements (including but not limited to CDA accounts). Enter checks, run reports, account for transfers, deposits, perform journal entries, and process internal balancing sheets. Verify balances.
* Review and approve all accounts payable and accounts receivable, verifying account #'s, and checking for accuracy.
* Responsible for monitoring and integrating the accounts for Medical, Flexible Spending, and Workers Compensation to our accounts payable system and general ledger.
* Responsible for managing Riverfront Rendezvous event for accounts payable, receivable, all deposits and reconciling bank account for the same. Responsible for integrating and performing the accounting operations for the City side of the Municipal Court, to include verifying monthly reports, accounts payable, quarterly bank transfers, monthly journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
* Integrate, monitor, and troubleshoot other Department systems (including but not limited to credit card systems) to the City's main financial system.
* Calculating wages, fringe benefits, including health insurance; telephone and utility amounts for the annual City budget. Verify formulas within the operating budget. Compiles budget materials for printing.
* Other duties as assigned.
Salary Information
The starting salary is $86,445 with annual step progression based on longevity and performance, plus excellent benefits.

* Demonstrate good judgment, tact, and courtesy.
* Ability to work accurately and independently with minimal supervision.
* Must attend all required training.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
* Frequent repetitive movement of arm and neck while speaking on the telephone or typing.
* Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time and sustain prolonged visual concentration.
* Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications
* Must be bondable with considerable experience and skill in accounting and management duties, including experience managing employees.
* A bachelor's degree from a recognized college with major course work in accounting, finance, public administration or a related field is required, and/or the equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
