Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate general ledger financial data on internal systems and related databases (e.g., AllScripts, BudEase).
- Develop, uphold, and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard the organization's financial environment.
- Assist in maintaining departmental systems, records, and reports.
- Participate in the yearly budget process.
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare and record journal entries to the general ledger.
- Act as a backup for bi-weekly payroll processing and supplemental payrolls.
- Oversee and assist with annual and quarterly payroll report filings and workers' compensation audits.
- Conduct periodic payroll and benefit accrual audits to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in the monthly closing process by analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Complete financial and statistical analysis for administrative and regulatory purposes.
- Act as backup to Accounts Payable, including vendor maintenance, invoice vouchering, and addressing vendor inquiries.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of Federal, State, and other financial reports as required.
- Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- -OR-
- A minimum of five years (5+) of hospital/healthcare finance experience.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Experience:
- Entry-level candidates with a Bachelor's Degree are welcome.
- Alternatively, five or more years of relevant work experience without a Bachelor's Degree.
- Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (including Pivot Tables & Lookup Functions).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand and analyze financial reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
- Ability to manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Medical or healthcare accounting experience is highly preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Occasionally lift/carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Occasionally push/pull equipment and filing cabinet drawers weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Occasional climbing of stairs, stooping, kneeling, and crouching to access documents and supplies.
- Frequent reaching, handling, and fingering to complete paperwork and use the phone and computer.
- Constant talking, hearing, and seeing to interact with staff and vendors.
