Job Description The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Financial Accountant, Budget and Finance Department, Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine [R0145269] ROLE of the POSITION Under the guidance of the Associate Dean for Finance and Facilities, this position will prepare financial reports, invoice, reconcile the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV (KSOM) and KSOM Graduate Medical Education (GME) general ledger and recharge accounts, perform internal reviews of account and funds, monitor accounting transactions and account balances for appropriateness and funding based on contractual agreements, prepare management records, document procedures, and perform analysis of revenue and expenditure activity. These responsibilities are essential functions of KSOM, a UNLV Health Care Professional School, and UNLV Health. KSOM consists of 116 full-time faculty, 112 full-time staff members, and 338 Student Residents. The role of the position extends throughout the entire KSOM branch of UNLV's 5 Professional Health Care Schools and functions with considerable independence and assists the Associate Director of Administration by overseeing daily allocations, operating expense, facilities leases and costs, ensuring accurate accounts receivable from the Practice Plan. A11 billing of 13 hospitals for the reimbursement of 19 of the GME's account activity and academic support, ensuring accurate accounts receivable and account reconciliation to ensure all residents are billed and supported. As the sole lead for KSOM due to budget cuts and as the increased complexity of technical accounting work is found through the management of accounting function that spans the entire Professional School in this case, the KSOM itself, which has financials approaching $100M and expected continued growth in the foreseeable future, the incumbent will be tasked to supervise an Accountant Technician I or II who will assist in performing revenue and expenditure processing activities. This position will function with little supervision to both prevent and help resolve issues, educate, ensure adherence to policies, procedures and guidelines in the business operations area. As the KSOM continues to grow and new staff are hired within the numerous departments, this position will assist in training those new to the UNLV system, it is imperative that billing and collections are timely and that processes are communicated and followed by the different departments. The incumbent will work closely with the departments to ensure operation expenditures are made using the appropriate accounts, and that the accounts have the budget available for these expenditures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 1-3 years of experience.
