Job Description
A prominent law school in the heart of Manhattan is looking for a Financial Aid Counselor. The selected individual would provide system support and perform electronic processes which moves various data files between the Department of Education and the school's Banner system.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Manage and respond to inquiries from the financial aid inbox and phone line
- Manage the financial aid internal calendar
- Assist in other administrative duties such as budget loan increases, scholarship adjustments, certification of private and bar study loans, academic status changes for continuing students, etc.
- Assist with the counseling of incoming and continuing students in the financial aid process
- Assist the Executive Director of Financial Aid with internal and external financial aid reporting
- Coordinate and oversee the donor scholarship process
- Any other duties needed to help drive the school's goals, priorities and outcomes, as well as fulfill the mission statement and abide the organizational values
Requirements
- A college degree is required
- Minimum 2 years related experience in higher education
- Must have experience in Banner, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with diverse individuals and groups at all organizational levels
- Able to handle large volumes of mailing
- Must be people oriented: friendliness, patience, diplomacy, etc.
- Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information in a professional and respectful manner
