Purpose of the Position
The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the Finance and Admin team with daily tasks and other projects as requested. They will assist with the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries. This role may be called upon to provide finance and accounting related support to the other Global entities under the direction of the CFO, located at the US headquarters. They will learn the overall office functions and provide critical support for the overall cost accounting and AP/AR functions of the family office. A strong candidate for this position should demonstrate the ability to independently review and analyze financial data to make recommendations, identify discrepancies, and maximize efficiencies.
Key Effectiveness Areas/Responsibilities
General Duties
Main Activities:
- Extensive use of Excel to produce reports, analyze and reconcile accounts monthly
- Assist with the monthly and year-end closing process and booking required entries and adjustments
- Complete monthly credit card reconciliation, regularly review and record bank statements and financial documents
- Initiate and process journal entries; track expense transactions and trends
- Understand and maintain confidentiality relating to all business activities, especially relating to financial details and customer/supplier details
- Update and maintain financial data within all filing programs and software
- Understand and maintain correct protocols when interacting with other staff, or customers and suppliers.
Teamwork and Leadership Responsibilities
Main Activities and Performance standards:
- Work as a team. Call out for additional assistance immediately when a question comes up that you are not highly competent in responding to.
- Manage time in an effective manner, confidentiality is paramount. Any breach of trust will be regarded seriously & addressed in an appropriate manner by senior management. Anyone involved in the Melroc Group team is required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
Selection Criteria
Preferred knowledge:
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information
- Minimum bachelor's degree in business and/or Finance
- 1-3 years' experience in finance and accounting
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and QuickBooks
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices a plus
