Financial Controller - Americas
Reports to: Senior Controller – Wholesale & Corporate (UK based)
Located: Houston, Texas
Job Purpose:
- Managing all finance and accounting operations for the Americas Business Unit with a support of an AP clerk
- Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances to Senior Management on Monthly basis
- Keep Business unit in legal compliance with necessary tax and government requirements
Principal Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
- Present financial results vs. budget and forecast expectations to MD on monthly basis
- Prepare & coordinate regulatory reporting
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Own month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Coordinating with Risk to integrate ETRM system MTM reporting with accounting processes
- Coordinate and manage annual YE audit for stand alone business unit as well as support requests for consolidated audit from Corporate
- Coordinate other external audits
- Additional controller duties as necessary
Qualifications:
- BBA in Accounting or Finance, Master of Accountancy or equivalent preferred
- Big Four experience is a plus
- CPA or CPA eligible
- Prior experience in leadership position managing accounting personnel

Knowledge & Experience:
- Knowledge and hands on experience with commodity ETRM systems, Aspect preferred
- SAP B1 knowledge preferred
- Commodity Trading/Midstream Oil & Gas industry experience
- Knowledge of Fair Value/Hedge accounting rules and principles for IFRS reporting preferred
- Experience coordinating with auditors and financial statement preparation & presenting to the Senior Management is must
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel is must
