Salary : $70,000.00 AnnuallyLocation : 1200 N Dupont Highway, DoverJob Type: ProfessionalJob Number: 2025-00220Division: Research/Sponsored ProgramsDepartment: SPONSORED PROGRAMSOpening Date: 01/09/2025 General Description of the PositionThis position is to act as the primary Office of Sponsored Programs financial point of contact for proposal and grant award financial matters. This position will work closely with the Director of Sponsored Programs. Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Act as the primary contact for all financial matters on pre-award budget development and post award expenditure approvals.Work closely with the Office of Accounts Payable and Restricted Funds Accounting to assist pre and post-award financial compliance.Work with faculty on pre-award submission and compliance.Use the Universities accounting system to access grant award information as needed.Monitor and keep current with government regulations regarding contract and grant accounting specifically OMB 2 CFR 200 Super Circular, A-133 single audit and the governmental accounting principles such as the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(GAAP), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).Able to provide interpretation and application of all governmental regulations and accounting principles to principle investigator's and staff as needed.Work with other staff on proposal and application submissions.Reviews financial expenditures and budget changes to ensure adequate documentation and compliance with all federal, state and agency regulations and policies and procedures.Other related Duties:Recommend, implement and maintain best practices in ensuring compliance with internal controls, governmental regulations, accounting principles and federal/state/local laws as they relate to grants and contracts.Coordinate and Administer trainings on pre and post-award complianceProvide assistance on grant award reporting and analysis.Other related duties and functions as assigned.Skills and AbilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with a variety of people on various levels.Ability to maintain accurate and current accounting records.Ability to work under pressure due to deadlines and large volume of work while still maintaining precise attention to detail.Ability to disseminate information on both a technical and general operational level. Qualification StandardsRequired Qualifications:Bachelors degree or higher with experience in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Business Management or related field.Knowledge of OMB 2 CFR 200, A-133 single audit and Federal Acquisition Regulation.Knowledge of state and federal agency policies (e.g. NSF, NIH, NASA, USDA and DOD).Experience working with state and federal computerized financial management systems, including data entry and correction processes.Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively with the highest degree of accuracy, while working in an environment of fluctuating priorities and frequent interruptions.Knowledge of general and federal principles, practices and theories of accounting, auditing, budgeting and financial management.Demonstrate a proven track record of successfully working collaboratively with administrators and representatives of external organizations including federal and non-federal agencies.Experience in statistical and financial analysis of data for making long and short-range plans and projections.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of program administration and research guidelines of federal and non-federal funding agencies supporting research.Five years experience with sponsored research financial accounting/administration, preferably in a higher education setting.Minimum three years experience with an academic or federal accounting system.
