The Idaho Department of Labor has a current opening for a full-time Financial Specialist in Boise. This position will perform various professional financial duties requiring application of accounting principles and practices. The ideal candidates will have an analytical approach to problem solving, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and on a team. This position is available inBoisebut may be eligible to telework after a probationary period.

Example of Duties
+ Prepare monthly accounting entries.
+ Prepare, analyze and/or audit financial records and documents, accounting systems, and other related documents.
+ Perform month end closing processes including statistics, data validation, and entries.
+ Research financial data for accuracy, trends, and variances to ensure compliance.
+ D evelop, reconcile, and test report data.
+ Monitor and review monthly expenditure and revenue accounts .
+ P eer review accounting entries for accuracy.
+ Ad hoc duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. + Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Typically gained by at least four years of professional work experience applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) OR an Associate degree in Accounting AND at least two years of professional work experience such as an accountant or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications: These qualifications are not required for this position, but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.
+ Experience researching and analyzing financial documents to ensure compliance with grants. Typically gained by one year audit experience and/or grant management or monitoring.
+ Experience using Microsoft Excel to create reports. Typically gained by at least six months of experience using Microsoft Excel to create reports.
+ Experience using software to reconcile balances. Typically gained by at least six months of experience using software to reconcile balances.
+ Experience with Statewide Accounting System Applications to run reports. Typically gained by work experience using the Statewide Accounting System in LUMA.
