Job Title: Fire Alarm Technician - Beginning 2024-2025 School YearLocation: Service Center, 4041 N 72 Street, Omaha, NE 68131Reports To: Supervisor of Maintenance, Service CenterWork Schedule/FLSA Status: 261 Duty Days / Non-ExemptSalary Schedule: This is a full-time negotiated position. Salary grade 50L based on Negotiated AgreementQualifications and Competencies:
- Minimum of five years of experience at the fully qualfied level in the fire alarm/low voltage field is mandatory.
- Possess a state fire alarm installer license, state fire alarm inspector license or Nicet level II certification.
- License to inspect fire extinguishers.
- Demonstrated ability to use the computer as a maintenance level aide is mandatory.
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair file alarm systems and components.Install fire alarm components.Inspect fire alarm systems.Inspect fire extinguishers.Repair and alteration of other low voltage systems.Trade related tasks as assigned by the Foreman, Maintenance Manager or Supervisor of Maintenance.Additional Duties:Performs other related tasks as assigned by manager, foreman, and/or administrators as designated by the Superintendent.Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
- Ability to climb ladders with tools and equipment weighing up to thirty pounds.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to seventy pounds.
- Ability to access equipment in constricted areas.
- Ability to pass functional assessment of physical abilities. Test will be arranged by OPS.
Equipment: Must always comply with OPS's guidelines for equipment use.Travel: Local travel will be required.Interrelations:
- Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors.
- Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks.
- Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues.
- Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service.
