The Oyster Recovery Partnership (ORP) is hiring two part-time Fisheries Dockside Monitors to verify daily charter boat harvest occurring on the Chesapeake Bay. Verification supports an electronic harvest reporting program for Maryland's Chesapeake Bay fisheries. Dockside monitors will be responsible for intercepting charter boat captains at the dock to verify the species and amount harvested during the offload process.
Job Summary: Dockside monitors will be expected to work independently from home to conduct spot checks at charter boat landing locations during the 2022 charter season. Monitors must be available to participate in trainings to learn harvest documentation procedures. Dockside monitors will be provided tablet computers with software to schedule spot checks and document and submit monitored harvest.
When: June 2022-September 2022, although there is potential for continued activity beyond this timeframe.
Weekly Hours: Harvest occurs seven days a week. Monitors will be scheduled for four hours per shift for three to four days a week (total of 12 shifts per month).
Compensation: Monitors will be compensated for four-hour shifts at a rate of $15/hr. Monitors will be reimbursed for mileage using Maryland's State mileage rate.

Dockside monitoring provides an independent third-party process to verify charter boat harvest, and qualified dockside monitors should not be affiliated with Maryland's commercial fishing industry.
