Essential Function:
Create an inviting atmosphere to facilitate orderly and safe experiences, provide guidance and instruction to participants in the use of cardiovascular and strength equipment; and maintain facility equipment for participant's comfort and safety.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
* Experience or degree seeking in fitness, training, or related field, and/or demonstrate proficient instructional ability in teaching functional exercise.
* CPR/AED certified or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
* First Aid certified preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
* Demonstrate proficiency in teaching functional exercise to patrons and be able to provide assistance when needed.
* Demonstrate use of all weight and cardio machines to patrons and be able to provide assistance when needed.
* Recognize an emergency and provide appropriate care in a timely fashion.
* Customer service, problem solving, phone and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently under general supervision.
Experience:
* Previous experience working with students, public or community, preferred.
* Preferred not required teaching exercise or exercise program development.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
* Provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all participants.
* Visually recognize an emergency.
* Provide assistance to patrons by correctly spotting basic lifts, including but not limited to; a squat, chest press, and shoulder press.
* Reach all parts of the Fitness Equipment in order to clean and maintain exercise machines, free weight and small equipment.
* Lift [up to] a 45lb plate to rerack it in its proper location without assistance.
* Check in students to enter fitness center.
* Record participants, answer phone calls and verbally communicate with internal/external inquiries.
* Ensure customer satisfaction and provide professional customer support.
