Fitness Coordinator - Full Time Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8AM-4:30PM

The Fitness Coordinator promotes and implements health, wellness, and physical activities, to assist in the well-being and quality of life of Community residents. PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

• Creates monthly fitness calendar that meets residents' needs and focuses on aerobics/cardio, flexibility, mobility, strength, endurance, and balance.
• Teaches a variety of fitness and aquatic classes.
• Provides Fitness Center Orientations for residents to include tour of the fitness center and pool area, orientation to equipment, review of available classes, and completion of a basic health history and fitness questionnaire.
• Provides residents with a personal Fitness Assessment and offers recommendations for classes and exercise based on the results and the resident's identified interests and fitness goals. Develops customized plan at resident's request that may include personal training.
• Provides education and outreach on fitness-related topics including newsletters and speakers as well as periodic vendor fairs, fitness challenges, clinics, and special events in partnership with the greater community.
• Manages the Resident Fitness Committee composed of volunteer residents that meets monthly with printed agendas, meeting minutes, and follow-up action items.
• Partners with Activities, Resident Services, Physical Therapy, Safety, and other community departments to provide information and opportunity for coordination of programs and services to residents
• Ensures the upkeep of the fitness center and pool areas on a daily basis.
• Other duties as assigned by Life Enrichment Director

• Minimum three years of experience teaching older adult group fitness classes strongly preferred.
• Current ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA or other accredited personal training certification.
• Maintains current Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
• Senior Fitness Instructor certification preferred.
• Balance and Mobility Instructor Certification preferred.
• Specialty Certifications preferred (i.e.: Zumba Gold, Arthritis, Parkinson's Disease).
• Background in exercise testing and evaluation.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Computer knowledge and skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook.
• Enthusiastic, resourceful, and possesses strong interpersonal skills.
