The Role Under general supervision, the primary responsibility of the Fitness Coordinator is to inspire and support residents across all levels of living in achieving their fitness and wellness goals. The Fitness Coordinator promotes residents' health through physical activity while ensuring a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment. This role also involves providing supervision during activities. As a representative and team member of Enso Village, the Fitness Coordinator is expected to maintain a professional demeanor that upholds Enso Village standards and ensures resident satisfaction.Position Responsibilities:
  • Interview and evaluate residents regarding physical abilities to determine the most appropriate and person-directed fitness schedule.
  • Gather data about participating residents and document fitness progress and growth.
  • Develop, with resident involvement, exercise plans for daily activities and everyday wellbeing.
  • Educate and motivate residents on self-awareness and physical self-management goals.
  • Working with residents and team members in each level of care, teach and lead fitness, strength, balance, mobility, and aqua classes addressing the physical, mental, and social needs of our residents.
  • Inspect and verify that fitness equipment is operating in optimal condition and that resident/team members are properly operating the fitness equipment.
  • Organize educational workshops and seminars on topics related to fitness and healthy aging, empowering residents to make informed choices about their well-being.
  • Actively engage residents in fitness-related activities and events, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among participants.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for residents. Provide guidance, motivation and support to residents pursuing their fitness goals.
  • Facilitate Individual, small and large group fitness classes.
  • Communicates clearly and efficiently, receives information and feedback, and relays information to appropriate departments.
  • Communicates with residents, team members, and management in a courteous manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree with emphasis in recreation, health education or related field; and college course work in social work, gerontology, psychology, recreation therapy, physical education, exercise physiology or related field.
  • College course work in fitness, kinesiology, exercise science, gerontology, recreation therapy or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 1 or 2 years of experience, preferably in a geriatric setting; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
  • Two or more years of direct programming experience with older adults.
  • Certifications through ACSM, NSCA, ACE, AFAA or any other relevant certifications desired, but not mandatory for the position.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is required.

  • Work may range from medium to light, depending on the activities pursued.
  • Involves walking long distances, pushing wheelchairs indoors and outdoors with residents weighing 50 to 250 pounds, and moving and rearranging equipment up to 50 pounds.
Compensation and Benefits:Enso Village is committed to equal pay and transparency. The salary range for this position is $25 to $30 per hour. This range provided as a general guideline and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors, including candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, external non-profit market data, and business considerations.We provide team members with a supportive and inclusive work environment focused on health and well-being.
