Closing Date: Open Until Filled (OUF)Salary Range: $19.06 - $22.88**APPLICANT MUST HAVE A VALID, UNRESTRICTED INSURABLE DRIVERS LICENSE****RESUMES AND REFERENCES ARE REQUIRED**ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides recreation and health-related fitness outreach services to individuals and families in the Wellness Center and other service area locations such as chapter houses, schools, clinics, job sites, and other community location within Fort Defiance service area.
  • Plans, organizes, develops, maintains, and administers age and skill appropriate, year-round recreational activities and programs.
  • Works collaboratively with supervisor and other staff for planning, management, evaluation and reporting of programs and activities.
  • Plans, organizes and conducts sports, recreation and fitness programs.
  • Utilizes evidenced-based practices and guides other team members to do the same.
  • Assumes responsibility for the use, care, and maintenance of equipment and supplies used for recreational services.
  • Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate special events.
  • Promotes and markets all recreational services.
  • Maintains an up-to-date monthly schedule for all recreational services.
  • Coordinates and communicates with entities outside of FDIHB, Inc. to reach goals related to recreational services.
  • Instructs subordinates on policies, procedures, and methods used for recreational services.
  • Utilizes available resources and information technology for communication, data collection, marketing and reporting.
  • Participates in department quality monitoring and performance improvement activities including planning, data collection and reporting.
  • Performs general maintenance duties including, but not limited to, cleaning fitness and recreational equipment and restocking supplies on a regular basis.
  • Participates in routine records maintenance in compliance with the Privacy Act, HIPAA, and FDIHB policies.
  • Collaborates with Fitness Health Technicians and Employee Wellness Coordinator to provide fitness education in community setting.
  • Registers Wellness Center participants into membership software, as needed.
  • Assists and occasionally independently monitors fitness center.
  • Provides evidence based education on the effects of exercise to chronic disease specific to diabetes and youth obesity.
  • Provides assistance in community based planning teams, committees, or coalitions including areas of the worksite, schools, community, and chapters in planning health and fitness education.
  • Implements other duties pertinent to position as assigned from time to time to meet departmental objectives and obligations, or to improve the level or quality of services.
  • Works with moderate degree of independence; must be able to exercise independent professional judgment.
  • Provides assistance with tele-health education.
  • Models healthy behaviors
  • Other duties as assigned.
MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSExperience: One (1) year of direct work experience in a fitness, health promotion position, public health or related field.Education: Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field or equivalent experience.*Completion, or requirement to obtain, within six (6) months of starting employment the following certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)Please email degree or transcripts to [email protected]/INDIAN PREFERENCEFDIHB and its facilities are located within the Navajo Nation and, in accordance with Navajo Nation law, has implemented a Navajo/Indian Preference in Employment Policy.
