Job DescriptionTOMRA Fleet Safety SupervisorAt TOMRA the Fleet Safety Supervisor is responsible for directing the transportation safety management process and providing overall support and guidance to the company's transportation organization with special attention paid to The Bronx material recovery division. The Fleet Safety Supervisor will report directly to the Transportation Department Leadership Team and interact with all staff as needed. $94,000 to $96,000 based on experience plus bonus potential.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Working, alongside Operations managers, to lead Environment Health and Safety (EHS) operations within assigned region to maintain the safety and health of all personnel
  • Coordinate with EHS and Transportation leadership in crafting short and long term strategies to build a culture of safety within the transportation organization.
  • Introduce and oversee systems and activities, consistent with other transportation teams, to maintain oversight of regulatory compliance status
  • Develop, along with other transportation safety personnel, and implement measures and communications to achieve consistent safe practices throughout the Company's transportation organization
  • Manage and track compliance inspections, audits, hazard findings, JSAs, in the company-wide safety system for assigned territories .
  • Report in a timely fashion feedback to Operations management regarding employee competency as it relates to the training programs provided
  • Lead the investigation of accidents and injuries within assigned region and prepares necessary materials and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations
  • Provide materials, training techniques and tools, appropriate observation systems, and other methods to create and deliver a comprehensive training program for transportation staff
  • Conduct mock DOT compliance audits, institute site inspection protocols for area management to conduct inspections themselves
  • Conduct vendor audits to determine compliance with FMCSR and other regulations as well as maintenance of other contractual obligations
  • Assist with management of roadside inspection process
  • Continuously monitor and provide expertise to the organization regarding regulatory requirements.
  • Work with other Transportation Leadership to provide necessary training, address policy issues, introduce new policies and procedures and take other actions necessary to ensure compliance with requirements and create a safe working environment.
  • Perform gap analysis and ensure compliance with OSHA, FMCSA, DEC, Mechanical Code, and other regulatory and business standards regarding facilities, PPE, equipment and other requirements
  • Make site visits outside of assigned region, as necessary, to help implement and maintain company-wide transportation safety systems (up to 15% of the time)
  • Ensure compliance with TOMRA SAFE Standards and Guidelines.
  • Implement a risk management process to identify hazards and put controls in place to eliminate or reduce HSE risk.
  • Ensure all new Resource Revolutionaries under your responsibility are inducted into the workplace .
  • Ensure all Resource Revolutionaries under your responsibility are trained in how to undertake their work safely.
  • Collaborate with your direct and indirect reports on health and safety matters and issues.
Other duties as assigned#indfleetQualificationsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in an environmental health and/or safety related field
  • Minimum of 3 years transportation safety management and/ or other safety training experience
  • Specialized education and/ or credentials in the safety profession are strongly preferred
  • Smith System training certification
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience working with cross functional, multi-location teams
  • Must be an organized self-starter with ability to independently solve problems.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects at the same time.
  • Willingness to be flexible when projects demand.
  • Ability take on new or ad hoc projects as directed by management

  • Experience with computers and software applications: email, internet and Microsoft Office required
