This is a FlexSteel Pipe position, and is located in Baytown, TX. SUMMARY FlexSteel (www.flexsteelpipe.com) is an innovation driven flexible pipe technology company. FlexSteel embodies teamwork with a focus on hiring top talent and developing employees.•Leads design projects for Flexsteel product transportation and installation equipment for onshore and offshore applications from concept to commercialization. In this role, the individual will conduct design, analysis and testing activities and may also lead teams of both internal and contracted resources in designing new and improving existing equipment. Assures that equipment meets all functional, industry standard and regulatory requirements. The individual may also lead projects to achieve 3rd party certification of Flexsteel products and equipment. Manages multiple projects from concept to commercialization while maintaining timelines and budgets.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.•Secures definition of functional, industry standard and regulatory requirements for transportation and installation equipment for Flexsteel spoolable pipe for onshore and offshore applications.•Develops and executes project plans for equipment design, preparation of required deliverables for fabrication and operation of equipment. •Develops and executes project plans for 3rd party certification of Flexsteel core products and equipment. •Oversees, with management guidance, contracted equipment design to assure it meets functional, industry standard and regulatory requirements.•Collaborates with team members in preparation of deliverables.•Interfaces with other functional departments and teams during the design, fabrication and initial application with effective change management to assure equipment meets functional requirements. •With management guidance and review, leads the production of equipment design and application documentation including:o Design reports to document the technical adequacy of equipmento Drawing packages for material procurement and equipment fabricationo Procedures and manuals necessary to assure equipment can be effectively used as defined in the functional requirements•With management guidance and review, leads the production of 3rd party certification documentation including design premise, design report and qualification report packages.•Develops test plans and participates in tests to assure design requirements are met and to validate designs.•Ensures that the applicable engineering aspects of the design, quality and safety requirements are implemented in accordance with company and statutory requirements.•Occasional travel to suppliers and field to support fabrication and initial use of equipment.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years related experience and/or training.
  • Familiarity with standards applicable to onshore and offshore equipment design.
