The selected candidate will work with Boeing's Payload Product Technology and Advanced Ground Systems organization which focuses on developing and integrating advanced technologies for payload systems and ground support equipment. This includes designing payload systems for satellites and space exploration, engineering ground support systems essential for launch and operations, and innovating cutting-edge technologies to enhance performance and efficiency. This organization collaborates with various partners to ensure effective integration into aerospace missions, playing a crucial role in supporting national defense, scientific research, and commercial space endeavors. The selected candidate for this position will focus on the Kestrel Payload Product Technology (PP&T) program. This program demonstrates a tactical space-based imagery microsatellite. This engineer will lead the development of the scenario-based plans and support the execution of plans to integrate and test software that controls imaging systems and operations. They will collaborate with developers to manage sensors and data processing, conduct simulations and hardware-in-the-loop testing, and validate performance for high-resolution imagery. Ensuring compliance with mission requirements and safety standards, the selected candidate for this position will be essential for demonstrating the microsatellite's tactical reconnaissance and intelligence-gathering capabilities.Key Duties:
  • Lead the design, development, test, verification, and maintenance of software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards.
  • Lead efforts for Formal Qualification Testing (FQT) planning, review, analysis, and translation of customer requirements into the initial design of software products to be tested.
  • Coordinate the development, maintenance, enhancement, and optimization of software products and functionalities for systems integrations.
  • Lead activities to develop, document, and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software products for verification purposes.
  • Debug and lead the resolution of issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.
  • Lead the handling of user inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues and analyzing user feedback.
  • Lead the research and implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development.
  • Lead the development, establishment, monitoring, and improvement of software processes, tools, and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.
  • Lead the execution and documentation of software research and development projects.
  • Consult on software domains, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations.
  • Lead software project management activities and software supplier management functions.
  • Lead the tracking and evaluation of the software team to ensure product and process compliance with project plans and industry standards.
Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and EducationRequired Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • 15 or more years of related experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • 5 or more years of experience with systems architecture, requirements analysis, test, and verification.
  • 5 or more years of experience developing, debugging, and testing software using high-level programming languages (C, C++).
  • Previous leadership experience as a Formal Qualification Test (FQT) Lead.
  • 2 or more years of experience in Object Oriented Design and Programming.
  • 3 or more years of experience with satellite or space-based payloads.
  • 2 or more years of experience using Systems Engineering tools (i.e., CAMEO, CORE 9, etc.) for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Bachelor's degree.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • 10 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience as an FQT Lead on a satellite or space-based payload program.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment.
  • Experience working on large-scale, complex development programs that require strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor of Science degree (or greater) from an accredited course of study in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or another related technical degree.
