FLIGHT TEST ENGINEER
Location: Alliance Airport area (TX), with travel to test sites in Lubbock, TX, or Florida as needed
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Flight Test Engineer for a 12-month onsite project based in Fort Worth, TX. This role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the safety, success, and regulatory compliance of our test flight operations. The selected candidate will work collaboratively across multiple teams, including systems engineering and compliance, to lead the flight testing activities, and deliver a safe, airworthy product.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Planning & Documentation:
- Refine the Preliminary Test and Evaluation Master Plan (pTEMP) and establish the full Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP).
- Collaborate with the systems engineering team to determine appropriate verification methods for system requirements.
Data Collection System Development:
- Work with engineers to identify and define requirements for DO-160-compliant data collection systems.
Test Case and Campaign Management:
- Develop, execute, and manage test cases, test cards, test plans, and overall testing campaigns.
- Coordinate and oversee execution of flight test campaigns, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
Flight Safety Oversight:
- Participate in ensuring the safety of test flight operations by applying sound engineering judgment and practices.
- Support risk assessments and hazard mitigation strategies during flight test planning and execution.
Regulatory Reporting:
- Analyze and report test campaign results to the Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Travel and Onsite Work:
- Work onsite in Fort Worth (Reserve St or Alliance Airport locations) and travel to test sites in Lubbock, TX, and Florida as required.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
OR
- Relevant experience in flight testing, flight operations, or related aerospace engineering for an FAA-certified program.
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with DO-160 standards and requirements.
- Proficiency in developing and managing test plans and reports.
- Strong understanding of verification and validation methods for aerospace systems.
- Experience with regulatory reporting and compliance, particularly with FAA standards.
- Requires Proficiency in verification and validation methods for aerospace systems.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to travel to remote test sites.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency, as required for regulatory compliance.
