The primary responsibilities of the Floor Maintenance Assistant are the cleaning and maintenance of approximately 73,000 square feet of flooring for patient living and office areas. Employees clean and maintain various types of floor surfaces and may serve as lead workers in cleaning and maintaining wood, tile, terrazzo, and
carpeted surfaces. Work requires employees to be knowledgeable of established floor finishing techniques, procedures, and correct usage of chemical cleaning agents. Work is performed under close supervision and is reviewed for quality and efficiency.
This position works Monday to Friday; 6:00am to 2:30pm

JFK is a 68-bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK-ADATC is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Behavioral Health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital

* Education and/or experience in floor maintenance work that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade equivalent to one year of experience in a commercial or institutional setting.
Management Preferences:
* Read and understand the mixing of different cleaning chemicals.
* One year of experience and some knowledge of equipment used in this type of position is preferred.
* Knowledge of how to take off floor finish from many different types of flooring.
* Able to apply a chemical to refinish flooring and some knowledge of equipment used in this type of position.
