Food Prep Cook - Big Mike's BBQ Smokehouse Restaurants : Job Details

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe're looking for an enthusiastic food prep worker who can deliver outstanding results in the kitchen prepping meals for our chef/cook. Your main responsibilities will be to stock, prepare and measure condiments and slice and dice foods. You'll keep your workstation and equipment clean and follow all required safety protocols. Good organization skills, the ability to take directions well, and to read recipe instructions and labels in English, as well as handle a variety of kitchen equipment, sharp knives, and measuring tools are required. Some experience and an associate's degree are preferred but not required. If you are a positive self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, we want to meet you! $10.50 - $13.75 hourly

Responsibilities:

• Handle simple cooking tasks such as brewing coffee or tea, preparing soups and reducing sauces, and assisting others in the kitchen when necessary
• Prepare recipes using the proper measurements needed for condiments and wash dice, and slice fruits and vegetables, and meats, for the variety of meals we prepare for customers
• Read recipe measurements, meal charts, label instructions in English, and use the correct measuring tools
• Clean food stations and prep areas and sanitize equipment and kitchen utensils after closing to maintain proper hygiene
• Observe all company-required food safety guidelines and protocols in the areas where food is prepared and kitchen equipment is utilized

Qualifications:

• Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays and be willing to pitch in working extra hours at the supervisor's request
• Basic familiarity with operating kitchen equipment
• You have the basic skills necessary to prep food for a chef/cook with minimal supervision expected
• Prefer someone with some kitchen prep experience and associate's degree (AA) or equivalent, but it is not required
• Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time, as well as lift 35 to 50 pounds, pull heavier items, and bend frequently
