Our expectations for someone in this role include:In this role, your primary responsibility is to assist supervisor in coordinating activities of plant workers engaged in egg processing by performing the following duties.
  • Actively participate in and promote our safety culture by following safe work practices and adhering to all safety policies and procedures. Responsible for reporting all incidents, accidents and observations of unsafe acts or conditions. Maintain the PIT program ensuring that all employees are trained and operating equipment in a safe manner.
  • Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management. Keep the Grading Supervisor informed of potential issues and areas of improvement. Communicate with other departments for shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Coordinates day to day activities of grading employees and oversees shipping/receiving operations. Directly leads 5+ employees. Deals with employee issues and concerns as they arise in conjunction with the Grading Supervisor.
  • Ensure that adequate training is provided to employees. Responsible for new hire onboarding training.
  • Monitors carton inventory and orders supplies as needed in relation to production needs. Utilize SAP reports for inventory management.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments with the assistance of the Grading Supervisor. Ensure employees are scheduled accordingly.
  • Ensures that the dry storage warehouse is clean, orderly, and packaging is stored safely that meets food safety rules.
  • Ensure that paperwork of the shipping/receiving employees has been completed correctly to include inbound/outbound records, labels, tags, BOLs, inspection records, etc.
  • Repairs various machines and refers extensive machine repairs to maintenance personnel or outside vendors. Works with the outside vendor on the preventative maintenance of pallet jacks and forklifts.
  • Work as a team with the other leads. Fill in for other leads when needed including start up and end of day production.
  • Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties. Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills
  • Hands-on ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to use independent reasoning and judgment
  • Agile and able to lift/push/pull/carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to follow procedures and guidelines and take direction from supervisor
  • Must be available and willing to work weekends and holidays as needed
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
  • Frequent exposure to humidity, water; repetitive movement, bending and twisting, and using hands to handle cleaning tools
  • Exposure to sustained noise levels
  • Exposure to hazards such as moving machinery, cleaning chemicals, overhead doors, and powered industrial vehicles (forklifts)
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to stand for 95-100% of shift
  • Able to work in an environment containing eggs
  • Must have the ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and accurately
  • Must be available for the night shift, may require weekends, some holidays, occasional overtime, if necessary
