The Food Safety & Quality team at BrightFarms is hiring a Food Safety & Quality Manager at our Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania greenhouse to lead the implementation of our food safety programs at the farm. Specifically, you will:
- Effectively and efficiently manage Production processes to ensure the quality of our product, consistency maintaining SQF requirements
- Collect routine EMP samples (water samples, swabs, product samples and media samples)
- Train and verify effectiveness of relevant food safety & quality programs to operators and leadership
- Oversee the sites pest control management system and conduct regular reviews of the system
- Lead site audits and inspections, both external (ex. SQF) and internal
- Support the farms in implementation of food safety regulations and policies
- Perform site GMP inspections and perform required drills & exercises
- Standardize best practices and creates forms necessary to collect KPIs
- Verify and review completion of food safety records
- Manage the farm's food safety plan
- Have a willingness and desire to assist in unrelated and/or unassigned tasks to ensure the effective operation of the Greenhouse
- Perform risk assessments and advise leadership on appropriate recommendations
- Lead corrective action efforts in identifying RCA and effectively implementing CAPA's
- Work cross functionally to safely implement new processes, programs and equipment
- Build and support a strong food safety culture
- Complete other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate:
- 4-year degree in a related discipline
- 5-8 years of experience in a production environment or related work experience
- Can create SOPs, forms, policies and food safety plans to meet relevant regulations such as FDA and GFSI
- Be detail oriented and data driven (experience with data bases is a plus!)
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Be a self-starter and a problem solver with strong relationship building and communication skills
- Ability to navigate a dynamic and quickly evolving environment
- Exhibit excellent critical thinking skills, leadership skills, lead by example - set the highest possible standards for food safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and behavior
Working conditions / Environment / Travel / Schedule required
- Have the ability to meet the physical requirements of the job including lifting up to 50 pounds, walking/standing for many hours, working in cold conditions (coolers) and warm environments (greenhouse)
