We have a direct hire opening for a Food Safety Specialist in Richmond at a commercial bakery that specializes in breads like brioche loaves and rolls, crme filled tarts, French macarons, and much more. This is a 1st shift opening!
- In this role, develop, implement, and manage food safety programs, lead HACCP risk assessments of products (physical, chemical, and biological), implement quality control measures, monitor and evaluate their effectiveness, and make necessary adjustments, especially regarding microbiological hazards
- In addition, establish appropriate documentation systems for maintaining records related to food safety, conduct internal audits, and ensure the facility is in compliance with food safety standards.
Direct Hire Opportunity - Be on our client's payroll from Day 1! Pay and Schedule:
- Salary: $26.50-$31/hour
- This is a 1st shift opening

Job Duties of the Food Safety Specialist:
- Lead and implement food safety programs, policies, and procedures in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate food safety key performance indicators for improvements.
- Lead the HACCP Program by conducting risk assessments (physical, chemical, biological) and implementing control measures.
- Demonstrate and enforce all GMPs and safety rules.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of the facility, processes, and products to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Identify and address non-compliance issues or deficiencies and implement corrective actions to resolve them.
- Establish and maintain documentation systems for food safety records.
- Develop and deliver food safety training programs for employees at all levels.
- Communicate food safety principles and practices to all employees.
- Monitor recalls and new regulations related to food safety.
- Participate in joint projects with other departments to ensure food safety and hygiene requirements are met.
- Actively participate in maintaining SQF Edition 9 compliance and audit readiness.
Job Requirements of the Food Safety Specialist:
- Have 3 years of experience in developing and implementing food safety programs, conducting audits, and managing compliance.
- Strong understanding of hazard analysis and risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Have effective communication and training skills for educating employees on food safety.
- Ability to coordinate actions and projects with other teams.
