Why does the job exist?Provides assistance with kitchen duties which include service and sanitation duties, as well as other related duties, such as preparing desserts, stocking supplies from warehouse, obtaining food/supplies as needed, keeping kitchen clean and sanitary, prepare salads and drinks, load/empty food carts, attend in-service staff meetings, dish washing and delivering food carts to units. How does it get done?Examine trays to ensure that they contain required items. Place food servings on plates or trays according to orders or instructions. Monitor food distribution, ensuring that meals are delivered to the correct recipients and that guidelines, such as those for special diets, are followed. Load trays with accessories such as eating utensils, napkins, or condiments. Clean or sterilize dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment, or facilities. Who are the customers?Residents at a long-term care facility. Ideal CandidateWill have:The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.The ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.The ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Minimum QualificationEighth grade education. Employment RequirementsEmployment is subject to criminal background check pursuant to New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act (Sections 29-17-2 through 29-17-5 NMSA 1978 and 7.1.9.1 through 7.1.9.11 NMAC) and is conditional pending results. Working ConditionsPosition will work in a kitchen and moves intermittently during working hours. Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Is subject to sudden temperature changes when entering refrigerator. May be exposed to heat/cold temperatures in kitchen/storage area. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
