Food Service Assistant 4 hrs. per day 9:00 am - 1:00 pmReports to: Food Service Manager & Director of Operations Terms of Employment: Contract length will be directly related to the student schedule. Purpose Statement: To serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness. Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Food service experience.
- Must have earned and maintain American Food Service Association certification.
- Ability to pass basic math and recipe conversion calculations tests.
- Basic working knowledge of computer and willingness to learn additional computer skills.
- Knowledge of good nutrition, food preparation, safety, and storage of food as well as principles of good sanitation, and the ability to apply this knowledge to the school cafeteria.
- Knowledge of State and Federal nutrition requirements for public schools.
- Physical ability to perform work, including moving heavy trays of food, unpacking boxes of supplies, stocking shelves, refrigerators and freezers, etc.
- Most possess a valid driver's license in the State of Ohio.
- Successfully pass a BCI and FBI background check.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of food portions and prepare the food service counter.
- Serve students and staff from the counter, arranging food in the most attractive manner.
- Understand prescribed portion serving.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in assigned work areas.
- Maintain trash and garbage collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion.
- Point of Sale software and general computer use.
- Work toward American Food service Association certification by attending in-service programs.
- The employee shall remain free of alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
- Perform related duties as required and assigned by the Food Service Manager, Director of Operation, and/or other administrators, including duties at special meal functions as assigned.

Wages and work calendar to be according to the current Negotiated Agreement. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with Article 18 of the Negotiated Agreement.
