In this dynamic role, you will oversee the setup, execution, and breakdown of events, ensuring seamless food and beverage service. Responsibilities include managing buffet or plated meal setups, supervising event staff, delivering exceptional customer service, and maintaining accountability for cash registers and alcohol distribution at event bars. You will also monitor alcohol service to ensure proper measurements are followed.After events, you will ensure all equipment is returned to its designated location, close out cash registers, secure alcohol inventory, count funds, and oversee pantry cleanliness. You will also ensure servers properly sign out at the end of their shifts.This position requires flexibility, as some events involve early breakfast setups and evening dinners, often on the same day. With a robust event schedule, the role may involve collaboration across multiple events or supporting large-scale events requiring the entire catering department. Join Team Plano!The target hourly rate for this position is $20.00 - $22.00, depending on qualifications.Examples of ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSManagement reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.* Supervises banquet staff through the set-up, break down, and duration of events.* Reviews customer needs in advance of the function or event and ensures that staffing, food supplies and set up needs are met. During the event, ensures that all customer needs are satisfied.* Ensures that equipment is properly cleaned and stored and facilities are cleaned accordingly after events.* Verifies that all payments are collected from customers, reconciled and deposited.* Assists in development, training, and goal setting of food service attendants with the Food Sales & Service Supervisor; provides work leadership promoting a positive work atmosphere of mutual respect with all food service personnel.* Works directly with Food Sales & Service Supervisor and Banquet Chef to assure proper plating and presentations of all catered events; ensures that all food is served according to established standards.* Completes quarterly small wares inventory and food products inventory as required.* Works closely with Plano's Choice Café staff and Plano Centre staff to coordinate assistance with offsite events.* Assists with ordering supplies and products related to guest service ensuring the highest quality and greatest cost effectiveness.* Maintains a safe and sanitary environment as outlined in the safety program and all local, State and national regulatory agencies; meets and exceeds all City of Plano health requirements.* Ensures that all concession equipment is properly maintained, set up and stored.* Assists in the performance management process for any service employees, and participates as required in the reviews of any other catering employees.* Responsible for offsite alcoholic beverage service at licensed facilities including: product selection and ordering, staff training and development including Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) certification, and ensuring that standards of service and legal requirements are continually met.* Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.Marginal Duties:* Performs other duties as assigned.Typical Decisions: Organizes work activities for permanent and contract employees. Appropriately conducts disciplinary/coaching sessions with employees as required. Reacts to customer concerns or complaints and attempts to resolve them to the customer's satisfaction. May be required to refuse alcohol service to a customer based on age or intoxication.Minimum Qualifications:Knowledge of: Familiarity with a wide variety of service styles including: buffets, full service, concessions and offsite functions. Experience in alcohol service is highly desired.Skill in: Leading teams of employees, including coaching, development and training; developing and administering room and flow layouts for events; improvising while working away from support employees.Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent; completion of a post-secondary Hospitality Management program is preferred.Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in food and beverage supervision, preferably in a full service restaurant, fast food, concession or banquet setting.Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirementsLicenses and Certifications: Texas Class C driver's license (must obtain within 30 days of hire per state law); Texas Department of Health Food Protection Management certification; Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission certification.Conditions of Employment: Must pass a drug test, driver license check, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check (for positions requiring access into Police buildings) and social security number verification check.Physical Demands and Working Conditions: This is primarily an office classification in which standing in and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds to assist in the set up and break down of events.Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
