Position Type: Administration/Food Service Director Date Posted: 10/3/2024 Location: District Wide Under general supervision of the Central Office Administration, responsible for the administration and coordination of the Food Service Department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for the nutritional integrity of meals serviced to students.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements set by the National School Lunch Program.
  • Responsible for managing the Food Service Program including preparation of meals, staffing, staff development, evaluation requirements.
  • Establish a budget and meet financial responsibilities.
  • Provide a cost effective purchasing system. Maintain accurate inventories and establish prompt processing and payment.
  • Responsible for screening, hiring, training and evaluations of employees.
  • Maintain open communication with students, faculty, and the community.
  • Prepare routine reports for the Board of Education.
  • Plans, organizes, and assigns duties to personnel.
  • Recommends staff and hours required.
  • Supervises and trains food service workers in the preparation of plate lunches, a la carte items in operating snack shops.
  • Insures that foods are appetizingly prepared and served.
  • Supervises and trains personnel in serving and cleanup procedures including the cleaning of equipment, utensils, and counters.
  • Oversees and assists food service personnel and demonstrates proper methods, procedures, and safety practices.
  • Insures proper conformance with wealth standards.
  • Evaluates assigned employees on a regular basis. Personally reviews performances with each employee including probationary period and possible disciplinary actions.
  • Follows standard District menus and food service methods.
  • Orders food stuff and supplies and checks or insures their proper receipt and storage.
  • May perform some cooking and/or baking duties.
  • Recommends improved food service procedures.
  • Prepares daily menu analysis.
  • Prepares regular written and statistical reports.
  • Insures proper record keeping and inventory control of food and supplies.
  • Makes oral and telephone reports.
  • Insures proper cooperation with school principal and other school administrators including the maintenance of schedules.
  • Attends district conferences and workshops.
  • Performs such other related cafeteria work as required or assigned.
  • Prepares and submits all applications, claims, and reports for the Food Service Department.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • The National School Lunch Program
  • Manage and supervise Food Service Operation including a central kitchen and the office.
  • Registered dietitian or five years of experience in school food service or equivalent organization.
ABILITY TO:
  • Supervise, manage, and plan effectively.
LICENSE:
  • Must possess a current valid driver's license.
