Position Summary:The Food Service Director will oversee and manage the food service operations within the Union-North United School Corporation. This role is essential in ensuring that nutritious and appealing meals are provided to students while adhering to all health and safety regulations. TheFood Service Director will collaborate with various stakeholders to promote a healthy school environment and enhance the nutritional education of students.Reports to:Superintendent and Corporation Treasurer / Business ManagerKey Responsibilities:* Develop and implement menus that meet nutritional standards and accommodate dietary restrictions.* Supervise food service staff, providing training and support to ensure efficient operations.* Manage food service budgets, including planning, purchasing, and inventory management.* Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding food safety and sanitation.* Prepare State reports as required.* Collaborate with school administrators, parents, and community members to promote school nutrition programs.* Evaluate food service programs and implement improvements based on feedback and best practices.* Monitor and maintain proper food storage and handling procedures to ensure quality and safety.* Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Corporation Treasurer/Business Manager.Qualifications:* Education:* Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational experience in any academic major or area of concentration and State-recognized certificate for school nutrition directors or at least 1 year of relevant food service experience.OR* Associate's degree or equivalent educational experience in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field, with at least 1 year of relevant school nutrition program experience.OR* High school diploma (or GED) and 3 years of relevant food service experience.* Directors hired without an associate's degree are strongly encouraged to work toward attaining associate's degree upon hiring.* At least 8 hours of food safety training is required either not more than 5 years prior to their starting date or completed within 30 calendar days of employee's starting date.* Strong knowledge of food service management practices, nutrition guidelines, and food safety regulations.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with staff, students, and the community.* Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.Application Process:Interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, and any relevant certifications to the Union-North United School Corporation Human Resources Department c/o Mrs. Jill Wagoner [email protected] .Union-North United School Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
